Saturday 2nd May - The Steaming Galleries and National Buckfast Day!

The Steaming Galleries @ Govan Hill Baths

TSG" exhibition is a collaboration between Michelle Cohen (Grey Wolf Art), Peter Gillies (GIA Co-ordinator), and Ross Williamson (Citizen's Theatre Stage Manager). We are putting a call out for artists to take part in this exclusive exhibition running throughout the SouthSide Fringe. Only original pieces of 2D and 3D art will be accepted.
The venue is in “The Steamie” at the back of the Govan Hill Baths (GHB). There will be a pop up theatre and bar running on some evenings throughout the event (hosted by the Baths). A full list will be available next month on their website. Our daytime access for the gallery is on Kingarth Street at the back of the GHB’s.

Art School Trip  - Garden of Cosmic Speculation @ GSA
3rd May 10am

Take a trip with GSA to to the Gardens of Cosmic Speculation in Dumfries. The sculpture garden is open one day a year, so this only opportunity of 2015 to discover it! 
The sculpture garden was created by landscape Architect and Architectural theorist Charles Jencks. Covering 30 acres, the garden features artificially warped and distorted landforms, terraces inspired by geometry and Cosmic themes such as Black Holes and Fractals —which play on your senses and perception. 
Tickets are £15 and this includes your bus travel. Tickets available in person at the Vic Bar.

Southside Fringe Launch party 2015 @  The Rum Shack Glasgow
8th May 7-10pm

The opening event of this years Southside Fringe Festival! 
In conjunction with Friday Reggae Shack  we'll have a host of Fringe favourites on stage from 7.30pm-10pm, then we'll enjoy live reggae sets from Lady Lex, Bass Warrior & Hectorr til late..

National Buckfast Day @ National Wide Featuring Buckskank @ the Art School
9th May 11-3am

National buckfast day is here! Get your bottles of tonic at the ready. Glasgow's Optimo will be hosting their annual event Buckyskank (no bams!) at the Art School, expect all music from the little island that is Jamaica. Buckskank is a night from Optimo that celebrates Jamacian music, JD Twitch will play his favourite dub, dancehall, roots and sleng teng all night that have a Jamaican influence. Also featuring the other half of Optimo JG Wilkes.

Firday 17th April - Record Store Day Sub Hub Vinyl Fare

Offbeat Glasgow presents JUJU & JORDASH Live @ La Cheetah Club
17th April 11-3am


Juju & Jordash found one another through weekly be-bop jams back in the mid 90s, with Juju on guitar and Jordash on piano. Throughout the 1990s, each played in and composed for various jazz and experimental combos by day and, by cover of night, danced in clubs and experimented with synthesizers, drum machines and dance music.
Now they have released numerous EPs, LPs and remixes since 2004 on record labels such as Dekmantel and Golf Channel, and on Workshop and Off Minor Recordings as Magic Mountain High, together with David Moufang (aka Move D), as well as several ambient, film soundtracks and multimedia projects. 
The fully improvised hardware Live shows have been highly regarded in the past few years for their musicality and versatility.

Record Store Day Party @ Rubadub
All day party starting from 10am

Record store day is upon us once again and this only means one thing, the annual  Rubadub Record store day party! Rubadub will be selling all good records on the day and there will be guest DJ's will be playing good records all day and there might even be some free beer at the event (if you're lucky). On the day there will be good records from all year round and some well selected RSD titles. They are  also going to be having a deep dig in our warehouse archive to unearth some older gems relevant to the RAD aesthetic.

Sub hub Vinyl Fair & Record Store Day featuring Henrik Schwarz @ Sub Hub Argyle Arcade

Another Record Store day in Glasgow, not one to be missed. There will be a fully licensed record fair, with dozens of different vendors selling all different types of records. As well as DJ set's from some of Glasgow's talent and on site good grub provided by Devils Deli & NO WAY BACK. Also there will be a featured Q&A session with one of the wold greatest live electronic artists, Berlin based producre and Glasgow favourite Henrik Schwarz. Schwarz will be chatting with us, discussing records and playing new and old records he enjoys. Henrik Schwarz will be playing the Sub Club later on that night.

Counterflows is a contemporary music festival produced by AC Projects and OtoProjects. It has been devised as a collaboration between two organisations committed to promoting challenging and thought provoking work in the context of what might be called the experimental music scene, looking at marginal music practice within an extensive list of music genres: Free Jazz, electronica, psychedelic pop, drone, industrial, installation, anochristic-fieldrecordings, song, non-systematic classical, folk.

Pressure & The Electric Frog Easter Weekend 2015 @ SWG3
3rd - 6th April

Pressure and Electric Frog have teamed up again to create another mini festival this time hosted at SWG3 in Patrick taking place on the Firday, Saturday and Sunday of the easter weekend. Saturday sees Steve Bug and Visionquest's Lee Curtiss play while Danny Krivit, AL Kent and Pistols at dawn lay down some disco vibes. On Sunday we bring back tbe legendary Josh Wink, who was a favourite at the previous Riverside festival. Along side him will be Vitalic, Slam, and Kr1z. While the Poetry club next door hands it's key to the i AM boys for an i AM takeover.
Tickers are available at Resisdent Advisor and are priced at roughly £15 per night. 

Glasgow Zine Fest 2K15 @ The Old Hairdresser
4th April 12 - 5pm

Glasgow Zine Fest returns for another year after a successful one last year. Underground for the underdog. Zines, books, food, tunes, art, DIY DIY DIY. Spread across Old Hairdressers AND Stereo this year, we're looking at double the fun.

In food this week I decided to feature a neat little joint called Deniston BBQ, it's located just outside the city centre in the east but it's absolutely worth the travel. It's on the busy Duke street in Deniston, the decor of the restaurant looks like it's undone, but do not be put off by the look! Burgers are reasonably priced and worth every penny!

The legendary Nile Rodgers and Chic return to Glasgow once again, this time around playing the 02 Academy. The tour is in support of their new single "I'll be there", their first single in 23 years! Nile Rodgers and his partner Bernard Edwards wrote the disco songbook and no doubt they will revisit that catalogue on Monday the 23rd of March at the 02. Expect to here disco classics like "Everybody Dance' and "Good times" to newer material from the legend himself!

The View @ The Drygate

Scottish loud, wild and mental band The View are playing an intimate gig at the Drygate. This is before their gig at the Barrowlands in Glasgow on the 27th of March. Expect a more quiet affair than their usual rowdiness.  They will be playing their slower acoustic songs in warm up for their gig on the Friday.

Sub Hub Opening Party @ 6th Floor Argyle Arcade

Glasgow's SubClub are hosting something a little different for a month or so, launching their new project "Sub Club" which will feature all different kinds of music and arts, as well as good food and drink all day everyday! Playing the launch party is Subculture favourites Harri & Dom, as well as Stay Fresh and Thunder Disco Club. So Low with Colin Poter @ The Poetry Club

Hosted by Optimo's JD Twich, he invited legend Colin Poter to play live for his Scottish debut. Colin Poter is a sound engineer and musical. He has been heavily involved in the field of electronic and experimental music for over thirty years which various records releases. 
The event is pay on the door and will be £9 entry.

Fan favourite and Berlin legend returns to the Subclub for the 4th time, if it's anything like the last time in 2014 we will be in for one hell of a night. Brought to Glasgow by Animal Farm, Klock will play a three hour set from 1am-4am. Expect nothing less than the realest techno about, Ben definately knows the score when it comes to techno.

Subcity Radio: 20th Birthday Party @ Glasgow Art School Union

Glasgow Subcity radio show turns 20 years old! They've came a long way from the very beginning, so for them turning 20 years old they are inviting DJS from the past and the present along with massive production! There will be music on both floors on the Art School union, music from Vitamins, who are responsible for some of Glasgow wildest parties. Also playing records downstairs in the Vic will be Gareth Roberts, Mr Ch00n and DJ Hush!

Screening of The Grand Budapest Hotel @ Glad Cafe

The Glad Cafe on Pollokshields road hosts a one off screening of the ever so popular film The Grand Budapest Hotel. The screening will be in the Glad Cafe's unique laid back atmosphere, grabbing yourself of the homemade delicious vegan and organic food.

Glasgow Boiler Room & Afterparty @ Subclub

Boiler Room makes a return to Glasgow for the third time and it will be hosted by Glasgow owns record label Numbers, showcasing some our Number's own talent and bringing the legendary Lory D to Subclub also. Expect more roof banging and wild Lory D chanting once again. The party will be continued on from 11pm with the Boiler Room after party, which will feature most of the guests from the Boiler Room. The Boiler Room is RSVP, but simply signing up on their website will get you in with a chance of getting an invite, the after party will be a fiver on the door al night.

The Skinny Short Film Shortcase @ CCA Glasgow

As part of the Glasgow Short Film Festival The Skinny presents, the best raw upcoming talent in the field in the form of Rory Alexandra Stewart. Alexandra Stewart, 2014 winner of Skinny / Innis & Gunn Short Film Competition. He presents his new film Misery Guts which will premiere on Thursday the 12th of March and 7.15pm. This event is free, but space is limited so email RSVP@theskinny.co.uk to be in with a chance of getting a ticket. 


Kellenberger - White exhibition @ Glasgow School of Art

This exhibition features London Based design studio Kellenberger. Kellberger - White is a graphic design consultancy specialising in art direction, the design of identities, typefaces, books and exhibitions, as well as campaigns, information graphics and websites for individuals, businesses and cultural institutions. Kellenberger will showcase the indentify they developed for Glasgow International Festival of Visual Art 2014. 


Kellenbeger will have a talk before the official opening on their exhibition, so get down early! This event is free for everyone!

Foodbank Fundraiser @ Glasgow School of Art union.

Glasgow based record label and favourite DJ duo presents a night in the Art School showcasing various musical talent with the proceeds donated to Glasgow foodbanks. All three of the Art School's union will be in use, the night will showcase music from Optimo, Subclub's own Harri & Domenic, Nightwave, Dixon Avenue Basement Jams, MWX and Laetitia Pleiades.
